Avesta acquired its first community in early 2011, an eight-unit community in Clearwater, FL, quickly followed by a 20-unit community in St. Petersburg. Avesta continued to raise additional capital which provided investments into larger communities. By the end of 2011, Avesta had acquired over 1200 apartment homes throughout Tampa Bay. The firm had greatly expanded its construction and asset management divisions.
The following year, Avesta expanded geographically into Jacksonville, acquiring over 1000 apartment homes in the market while continuing to expand throughout Tampa Bay and into nearby Orlando. By the end of 2012, Avesta managed over 2,400 homes throughout various markets in Florida.
Avesta enters second state, making acquisitions in Austin,TX. Expansion continues throughout Florida as the company enters Palm Beach County and Naples.
By the end of 2014, Avesta managed over 5,000 apartment homes throughout two high growth states.
In 2015, Avesta launched its first pooled fund, raising $20 million from high net worth individuals. Avesta opened their second office, located in Austin, TX while continuing to expand in the state with acquisitions in San Antonio.
Avesta raised its second pooled fund in 2016 and continued to expand geographically, adding an office in Dallas. Avesta partners with Cristo Rey to open Cristo Rey Tampa High School, the charity’s first school in Florida. To this day, Avesta continues to partner with Cristo Rey and sponsors several students through the school’s Corporate Work Study Program.
By the end of 2017, Avesta owns and operates 46 communities, over 11,000 homes, and employs over 340 teammates across 4 states. The firm held the first closing of the 3rd fund and entered two new states, Colorado and Arizona. Avesta manages a portfolio of multifamily communities with a value of over $1 billion. This growth was recognized by Fortune, as Avesta was named a "Best Medium Workplace" for the second year in a row, ranking #19 nationally.
